Participation of Ali Bagueri Kani, at the 43rd Session Human Rights Council.
The Iranian High Commissioner, Ali Bagueri Kani, told to UN that «in Islam, human dignity is considered a paramount principle around which all public policies are developed.»
The Secretary of the Iranian High Human Rights Commission stressed that «human rights were the victims of international politics, undermining the implementation of international human rights.» He added that «Iran was a victim of such international and economic interests.»
He described the destabilizing role of the United States in the Middle East region, stating that «in this long history, the United States has played an important role since the 1953 coup d’etat, shooting down an Iranian civil aircraft over the Persian Gulf, and killing 300 civilians, imposing economic sanctions.»
He stressed that «terrorism should be considered a human rights issue, with many examples, such as the beheading of civilians in Iraq and Syria by terrorist groups financially supported by some countries. The president of the United States himself has admitted his role in creating ISIS. The assassination of Qasem Suleimani was another example.»
Regarding Washington’s sanctions against the Persian country, he denounced that «Iran was the victim of unilateral coercive measures, including sanctions. The United States created a sanctions regime that prevented Iran’s progress, wich meant it was hampering the right to development. Such acts constituted collective punishment and were a gross violation that should occupy a prominent place in the program of the Human Rights Council», and said that «sanctioning medicine is murdering human beings.»
Regarding security in the Middle East and the so-called «Deal of the Century» by Trump and Netanyahu, the Iranian High Commissioner said that «the occupation of the Palestinian territory and other conflicts in the Middle East are the main causes of instability. Iran was punished for support the Palestinians and Yemenis. Instead of imposing human sanctions, Iran should be praised for helping those in need.» He also denounced that «the «Deal of the Century» could cause the disappearance of the Palestinian State.»
We denounce the political approach to human rights by certain countries, such as the United States, United Kingdom, Israel, or Saudi Arabia, who claim to defend rights while denying them to entire nations such as Palestine, Yemen, Kashmir, Iran or Venezuela, among others.
